Jambo everyone! Greetings to you all, wherever you are! I hope you are well and experiencing God’s blessings in your lives! Here at In Step Children’s Home and Academy, it has been a crazy busy month! There are so many exciting things happening, sometimes it’s hard to keep up! February 12 was a great day, as we celebrated Baba Jeff’s 60th birthday! We really went all out and it was a super fun time for everyone! Our management team did a great job organizing the many details and logistics; design and distribute invitations, rent tents and chairs, hire a Master…

Jambo everyone! Happy new year! I hope your 2022 is off to a great start! Here at the children’s home, we have had a very busy beginning of the new year! In Step Academy has been blessed to be the recipient of a Rotary International grant, which has benefitted our students in a big way! The grant provided for full implementation of the African Ruggedized Educational System (ARES), including laptops, servers, projectors, screens, etc.! The ARES servers have an amazing amount of educational materials, including the Kenyan government approved curriculum, over 45,000 books, 900 TED Talks, plus a ton more!…

“Truly visiting is life-changing with never ending hugs, smiles that move your heart, enthusiastic singing and joyous and animated dancing. The noise of children laughing and crying, playing and working, learning the importance of responsibility and performing the daily tasks of life. This a safe place; a place where the love of Jesus is caught as much as it is taught. Indeed, to see this ministry up close and personal as we have, has confirmed to us without hesitation that the vision and work of Rehema for Kids, missionaries Jeff and Carla Piccici is a “God-thing” and well deserving of…

Jambo everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your Christmas holiday with friends and family! Here at In Step Children’s Home, we celebrated our Savior’s birth in a big way! I’ll tell you more about that later! I have been seeing on social media that many of you are enduring very cold weather, snow and ice! BRRRR! Here, we are finally in dry season, which means warm days and lots of red dust! It seems like I wash my hands a thousand times a day, as just walking across the campus leaves a film of dust from head to toe! This…

Jambo everyone! It’s nice to be writing to you from Washington State! I traveled last week and reached home safely! It was a hit the ground running sort of situation, but I am now slowing down a bit and getting the chance to touch base with you all! I first want to express my appreciation for the Rehema for Kids team! What an awesome event they pulled off over last weekend! Safari to Kenya was such a blast; great Kenyan food, face painting for the kids, passport booths where the guests could catch a small glimpse of Kenyan culture, super…

Jambo everyone! I hope this update finds you all healthy and happy! I know that some of you are going through extremely hard times right now and I wish I had words that would bring comfort! Please know that the kids and I are praying for you every day! Mud! Mud! Mud! That’s the story of the day around here! For those of you who have never visited us, let me try to explain what the mud is like here! Matope (ma-TOE-pay) is the Swahili word for mud and you hear this word multiple times per day, during this time…

Jambo everyone! I hope you all are well, wherever in the world you are! Here at In Step Children’s Home, we are doing well! The kids are home from school for half-term break so keeping them busy is a challenge, but it’s nice to have them around. The rains are letting up, only light showers most days, with heavy downpours once or twice per week. We have had quite a few cases of malaria lately, which is not unusual. Mostly, everything is going on as always, which is good! I had a few fun topics I wanted to tell you…

July 2021 Jambo

July 23, 2021

Jambo everyone! I hope you are all doing well! I arrived back in Kenya just over a week ago and am finally starting to feel back in the swing of things. I’m slowly catching up on all that was neglected while I was away; bookwork, housework, yardwork… nothing of great importance, especially in light of the blessing of being able to spend time with family and friends! I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting this month as Rehema Grace, and the children’s home itself, turns fifteen years old! Fifteen years! Where has the time gone? I think back to that day in July 2006, when our…
